Wild Ponies of Chincoteague

Climb aboard the comfortable motorcoach at the Wetlands Institute and travel to Chincoteague and Assateague Islands on the Eastern shore of Virginia. Our adventure begins with a cruise on the Cape May-Lewes ferry, and continues down the Delmarva Peninsula while we watch films about the ponies to set the mood. We will have lunch on arrival, and then you have the option of taking a nature boat trip to look for ponies and birds or visiting the Chincoteague Refuge Visitor’s Center. On Sunday morning we’ll visit the Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge where we will have a behind-the-scenes guided tour of the refuge and look for the wild ponies, birds and the endangered Delmarva squirrel. There will also be time to explore the village of Chincoteague and its unique shops and restaurants. This trip includes hotel stay, transportation, one lunch, breakfast, and all scheduled admission fees.
