The Wetlands Institute invites Students Grades
7 through 9 to live the adventure!! The
Junior Naturalist Experience
A one-week program for students
completing grades 7, 8 or 9 by June 2008.
Explore the coastal
environment. Meet professionals in the field of science and see what they're doing
to protect the planet. Discover how much you can learn when you get a little muddy.
This year the program is sponsored by a generous donation from the James and Barbara
Summers Family Foundation allowing us to offer scholarships. Classes are offered in Stone Harbor and Ocean City. Contact Melissa at (609) 368-1211 for information.

4 July 7-11: Ecosystem Endeavor
From the beach to the bay, the forests to the meadows and don't forget the wetlands. Explore a variety of local habitats, how they're protected, threatened and valued.
Week 5 July 14-18 Coastal & Marine Biology
Learn about what's involved with this popular field, what skills it takes and what you can do in this area of study.
Week 6 July 21-25 The World of Research
See what our researchers are working on, and others in the area, and work on a project of your own.
Week 7 July 28 - August 1 Animal Adaptations
Hot days, cool nights, salt spray, predators, human interactions, how do animals deal with it all, what helps them to survive?
Week 8 August 4-8 Disappearing Species
With over 40 Endangered Species in New Jersey and more threatened, learn about what's causing these problems and what is being done to protect them.

We’ll use the Bayside Center as our base, and also travel to local beaches and parks.
