Trips for School Groups All
of our trips emphasize hands-on learning and the scientific method. We believe
children learn more from getting a little wet or muddy than from listening to
a lecture inside.
**Proper Dress required for all Groups**
Marsh Critters & Discovery Walk (Grades pre-K - 2) Students will discover
the world of fiddler crabs and killifish as they explore this unique ecosystem. Download teacher materials.
Cycles of Life (Grades 3 - 4) Through activities, students discover
food web connections among plants and animals within the marsh ecosystem. Download teacher materials.
Turtle
Talk (Grades 3-4) Examine the life of the diamond back terrapin, whey they
become so active during the spring, and what they do the rest of the year. Download

Beach Exploration (Grades 3-4) Beaches are for more than just tanning! Visit the beach to observe and examine the plants and animals that call it home.

Horseshoe Crabs & Shorebirds (Grades 5 -
12) Students learn about the interconnections of life forms in the Delaware
Bay area with emphasis on the relationship between horseshoe crabs and migrating
shorebirds. This program can be followed up by a visit to the Bay during Spring
migration.
Wetlands Ecology - (Grades 5 - 12) Students will learn
the three characteristics of a wetland by performing hands-on experiments in the
marsh, including netting a variety of salt marsh animals. Download teacher materials.
Barrier Beach
Ecology (Grades 5 - 12) Travel from the Institute to Stone Harbor beaches
and dunes to observe and examine beach and tidal pool plant and animal life. Download teacher materials.
